Why Biodegradable Packaging
Plastic bottles are made from petroleum that degrades slowly if at all. Scientists believe the average time for a plastic bottle to decompose fully is approximately 450-1000 years. However, the plastic simply breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces forever remaining a toxic threat to all life on Earth. In fact, because plastic breaks down into tiny pieces, it is virtually impossible to recover, meaning that it essentially becomes a permanent part of our ecosystem. Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Marine trash, mainly plastic, is killing more than a million seabirds and 100,000 mammals and sea turtles each year.
